Welcome to the website of Elke Roelant.
In December 2014, I was selected as a team member on the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) 2015, hosted by Robert Swan, OBE, and the 2041 Foundation. With the carefully selected team, we explored the Antarctic Peninsula with on-board experts and gained first-hand knowledge of the continent’s fragile ecosystem, today’s issues of climate change, renewable energy, sustainability and how it affects our present and future worldwide. In 2016 I joined the IAE for a second time.
The International Antarctic Expedition hosted Robert Swan’s Leadership on the Edge program and was an exhilarating and unpredictable adventure – a life changing experience for the international group of men and women joining Robert Swan and the 2041 team to the last great wilderness on earth.
As a continued commitment to the mission, I give presentations and workshops on Leadership, Sustainability and Antarctica for educational institutions, business and diplomacy.
“The Greatest Threat to Our Planet Is the Belief That Someone Else Will Save It.” – Robert Swan, OBE
2041 was founded by polar explorer, environmental leader and public speaker Robert Swan, OBE. As the first person in history to walk to both the North and South Poles, Robert Swan has dedicated his life to the preservation of Antarctica by the promotion of recycling, renewable energy and sustainability to combat the effects of climate change.
2041’s mission is to build on Robert Swan’s dedication by informing, engaging and inspiring the next generation of leaders to take responsibility, to be sustainable, and to know that now is the time for action in policy development, sustainable business generation and future technologies.
